Artists Statement

April M RimpoMaryland-based artist, April Rimpo, creates paintings that allow you to experience new cultures, and the stories and people of far-off places. Having travelled extensively across the United States and abroad, Rimpo captures and shares her experiences in her bold acrylics and watercolors.

If you love color and textures in artwork, then April's acrylic and watercolor paintings are for you. April uses color and texture to set the mood and level of energy she feels best communicate the emotion of the scene. April has paintings included in North Light Books' Best of Acrylic books: AcrylicWorks3: Celebrating Texture, AcrylicWorks4: Captivating Color, and selected for the 2018 edition AcrylicWorks5: Bold Values. Her painting, Lunch with Champagne, was selected for North Light Books' 2018 Best of Watercolor book, titled Splash 19

About her art, April says, "I feel a piece is successful when I think the mood I want is achieved and the story shines through in the finished painting. Real success comes, however, when you tell me the story you see in the painting. Often your story is quite different from mine, but it doesn't matter! I feel a tremendous sense of satisfaction for having been able to evoke a memory or an emotion in you. What more could I ask for as an artist?"
